GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION

Vychegodskiy is an urban-type settlement in the Northern European part of Russia, videlicet Arkhangelskaya Oblast (Region). The urban-type settlement is under Kotlas-town jurisdiction.

It is located 645 km (or 400,78 mi) South-East from Arkhangelsk, and 13 km (or 8,08 mi) East from Kotlas.

THE ORIGIN

Vychegodskiy was established on the grounds of building of railway in direction Kotlas-Vorkuta. It stands on the left bank of Staritsa Vychegdy River. The name of the river means “Yellow River”.
